Born in Upington and raised in Mpumalanga, Zanie Viljoen found her love for the vineyards from her family vacations to the Cape Winelands. Following her passion, she completed her diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Elsenburg College. She completed a few vintages in South Africa and a harvest at Domaine des Martinelles in France's Rhone Valley. She is currently the winemaker for the L'Ormarins Méthode Cap Classique collection of sparkling wines at Anthonij Rupert Wyne. Being in the wine industry for 15 years Zanie is very proud to see how women have evolved in this industry and are not afraid of the physical challenges that face them. Being a mother herself, she knows the toll it takes to balance career and family, appreciates every winemaking mother in the industry, and acknowledges the hard work that needs to be done to ensure both exceptional wines and an exceptional household.
