The daughter of Stellenbosch's Faure wine farming, Jeanine graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2004 with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology. Three years on, she met Australian wine studies graduate Mick Craven when they were both in California for the harvest season. After travelling across the world together for four years learning about wines in Australia, Europe, the US and South America, they returned to her home town. In January 2012 they established Craven Wines where they make site-specific wines from nearby vineyards, including two very distinct plots from her family's farm. All the Craven’s non-manipulated wines are spontaneously fermented, unfined and unfiltered, and in the past couple of years have been made in their own cellar in the town's Agri Park.
